I’m giving this program with my good friend Christina Sell. This course works from the inside out. The pathways of return to the wise innocence of our true nature are many, as are the gateways that both initiate and integrate our experience along the way. In this nine-week course, we’ll begin an exploration of the inner world through symbol, story, and song as portals to a richer relationship with the events and felt-experiences of ordinary life as well as dreams, intuition, and the imagination of the heart.
I’ll be talking about contemplation and the creative inner life on June 9 at 7 pm at the Saturday Night Talk series in Prescott, live on ZOOM. I hope you’ll join me. You can get there by clicking here. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4900587108
What exactly do we mean when we call a human being ’mature’? How can we develop into a mature state of being? And why is this an essential condition for a spiritual path and the encounter with a true teacher?
Three days exploration of sahaja meditation practice combined with the powerful experience of evoking divine moods through singing mantras and bhajans.
In a countryside retreat, five days of music, singing, writing, and celebration of the creative life in the bhakti and tantric paths.
Drawing inspiration from the rich spiritual tradition of India and the wild and magical landscape and Celtic tradition of Scotland, we will follow the pathways of writing and singing to attune with Nature through the five elements; earth, water, fire, air, and space.
Using the bhakti and tantric teachings of the Bauls and Sahajiyas of India, we will explore writing and singing from the heart to experience bhava and rasa (the taste of divine mood).

Three days in the beautiful French countryside with seasoned writer Mary Angelon Young and musician Marion Zammarchi for a deep exploration of the creative impulse, cultivating relationship with the creative Muse through singing and writing. Come walk under talk green trees, swim or sit beside a beautiful river, and tap the wellspring of your true nature.
In India, Speech and Music are both represented by the goddess Saraswati. To write allows us to enter into a intimate relationship with our creativity, our Muse, and makes us realize our depth. To chant offers us a space in which to get in touch with the breath, the sound and the vibration of our body. As we harmonize our voices, the possibility is there for us to step out of the thinking world and come back into the heart.
By the unveiling of our true Nature, our wisdom, our deep Being, these 2 forms of art are 2 ways of inner transformation. Exploring both avenues, we will arrive back at the Source – for in most spiritual traditions, Sound (the Verb) is the source of the universe.
Chanting will make us travel through 3 colors from India :
- dhrupad chanting (the most ancient sacred musical style in North India)
- baul chanting (traditional chant from Bengal)
- mantras (ritual chanting in vedic priesthood).
Our time together will be interspersed with moments of sharing and play.
This workshop is for anyone wanting to discover or deepen their relationship with their voice and writing skill, in the holistic sense. You do not need to be committed to a writing practice or to know anything about music in order to attend and participate. These 3 days will be fully translated in English and French.

“ALL LIFE IS YOGA.” – Sri Aurobindo
In a world of vast complexity and paradox, we are constantly challenged to be true to our individuality. It is the deep self that reveals the integrity and true heart of our humanity—but how do we gain and maintain access to that innate wisdom? Blending the ancient sahaja teachings of the Indian tradition with the work of transpersonal psychologist Carl Jung offers a unique doorway through which we may discover the mandala of wholeness within, which gives rise a richness of being, clarity, joy, and creativity.
Christina and Mary explore historical perspectives and direct experience of living vidyas (streams of knowledge) through asana, ritual, devotional chanting, archetypal symbols, writing, good company, and invocation of healing moods (rasa).
